The Best Modern Horror Movies on Paramount+ Right Now (November 2026)

Availability last updated November 1, 2026.

Not in the mood for horror? The best movies on Paramount+ right now →

Paramount+ doesn’t get much credit as a horror destination, but between Blumhouse-adjacent franchises, the A Quiet Place films and a few genuinely nasty deep cuts, there’s plenty here worth your night. These are the best modern horror movies on Paramount+ right now, all released from 2010 on, pulled from my obsessive watching of the genre, including picks from the best horror movies of the 2020s and the best horror movies of the 2010s. You’ll find favorites like Smile, It Follows and A Quiet Place: Day One, plus deeper cuts worth seeking out. Every pick is streaming in the U.S. right now, and I’ll keep the list updated as titles come and go.

New on Paramount+ This Month (November 2026)

Nothing new joined this list in November. Every pick below was rechecked and is still streaming on Paramount+ as of November 1. For the latest releases, see my roundup of new horror movies.

SMILE (2022)

79%Critics77%Audience6.5IMDb

Smile (2022) movie still
A trauma therapist watches a patient kill herself while grinning and inherits the curse, which passes by witness. It makes full use of its R-rating, going to extremes not often seen in a wide studio release. Parker Finn expands his own short into a feature about a curse passed along by grinning victims, and Sosie Bacon’s unraveling therapist is a terrific lead.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+ · Read the full review Whether you want slow-burn dread or the scariest movies on Paramount+ right now, start here.

IT FOLLOWS (2014)

95%Critics66%Audience6.8IMDb

It Follows (2014) movie still
A demonic STD will not stop hunting Maika Monroe in this deliriously made, minimalist horror-thriller. David Robert Mitchell’s filmmaking is an intellectual puzzle that only gets more bewildering (and better) upon rewatches.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+

A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE (2024)

86%Critics72%Audience6.2IMDb

A Quiet Place: Day One (2024) movie still
Essentially an art film about a dying woman’s quest for a final slice of NYC pizza, trojan-horsed into a genre flick, A Quiet Place: Day One boasts an excellent performance by Lupita Nyong’o (Joseph Quinn is also outstanding), helping keep this franchise fresh, relevant, and true to form.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+ · Read the full review

SHUTTER ISLAND (2010)

69%Critics77%Audience8.2IMDb

Shutter Island (2010) movie still
Scorsese’s foray into proper psychological horror boasts Leo, a topsy-turvy Dennis Lehane whodunnit, and whizkid technical elements. The ending is perfect (and not open to interpretation, despite what you may think.) Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese turn a 1954 mental-hospital mystery into a twisty, atmospheric psychological thriller.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+

Blink Twice (2024) movie still
A cocktail waitress gets invited to a tech billionaire’s private island for an undisclosed stretch of hard partying where days stop connecting. The only prescient question becomes, “are you having enough fun?” Zoë Kravitz’s directing debut is slick, sinister, and furious, and Channing Tatum is unnervingly good as the charming host.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+ · Read the full review

A QUIET PLACE (2018)

96%Critics83%Audience7.5IMDb

A Quiet Place (2018) movie still
A mom and dad sound proof their life from sonically-sensitive alien invaders in this thoughtful meditation on the difficulties of parenting, especially so in a world of unblinking 12-foot killing machines. STFU! John Krasinski directs and co-stars opposite Emily Blunt, and the near-silent sound design turns every creaky floorboard into a jump scare.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+ · Read the full review

CRIMES OF THE FUTURE (2022)

79%Critics50%Audience5.8IMDb

Crimes of the Future (2022) movie still
In a future without pain, a performance artist grows novel organs and has them removed in front of an audience. The surgery of Dead Ringers, the kink of Crash, the transformations of The Fly. All of Cronenberg’s favorite fetishes have come out to play.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+ · Read the full review

PIRANHA 3D (2010)

76%Critics45%Audience5.5IMDb

Piranha 3d (2010) movie still
70’s sexploitation meets turn-of-the-century budget CGI in this tongue-in-cheek monster movie that unleashes bloodthirsty teeth-fish on bikini-clad spring breakers. A campy beer bong-able party movie if there ever was one. Spoiler alert: A piranha burps out a human penis.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+

A QUIET PLACE PART II (2020)

91%Critics92%Audience7.2IMDb

A Quiet Place Part Ii (2020) movie still
The Abbotts leave the farm with a newborn and a hearing aid that doubles as a weapon, and meet a survivor who has stopped helping people. It builds the emotional heart before throwing everything to chaos, knowing tension needs a vested interest first.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+ · Read the full review

THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE (2016)

86%Critics72%Audience6.8IMDb

The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016) movie still
Emile Hirsch and Brian Cox are father-son coroners who come across an enigmatic corpse that shows no obvious cause of death in this creepy, inventive, self-contained witch’s brew of nastiness. Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch play father-and-son coroners examining a body that refuses to give up its secrets, and André Øvredal builds the dread with surgical precision.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+

SCREAM (2022)

76%Critics82%Audience6.3IMDb

Scream (2022) movie still
A new Ghostface targets the relatives of the originals while the film coins the word “requel” for what it’s doing. Razor-sharp, bloody glorious, and most importantly a hell of a lot of fun. The fifth film brings back Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette while poking smart fun at legacy sequels, and the kills are as vicious as ever.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+ · Read the full review

SMILE 2 (2024)

86%Critics81%Audience6.7IMDb

Smile 2 (2024) movie still
The grin-curse jumps to a pop star mid-comeback tour, where nobody can tell a breakdown from a haunting. Moving it onto a stage is smart; the mythology still develops in very similar ways. Naomi Scott plays a pop star whose comeback tour collides with the curse, and Parker Finn ups the scale and spectacle without losing the dread.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+ · Read the full review

SOUND OF VIOLENCE (2021)

65%Critics58%Audience4.7IMDb

Sound of Violence (2021) movie still
A composer who regained her hearing during a family massacre starts killing people to sample the sounds, rigging one victim as a human drum kit. Her music kills, and Noyer jams out to camp and slasher colliding. Alex Noyer’s debut follows a woman who turns murder into music, and its gruesome audio-visual set pieces are as inventive as they are grisly.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+ · Read the full review

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: NEXT OF KIN (2021)

32%Critics37%Audience5.3IMDb

Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin (2021) movie still
A documentary crew visits an Amish-adjacent commune that the franchise’s demon got to first. Proof that you can make a Paranormal Activity movie that doesn’t look like total shit. Moving the found-footage franchise to an isolated Amish community gives it a fresh, folk-horror flavor.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+

SPONTANEOUS (2020)

96%Critics69%Audience6.5IMDb

Spontaneous (2020) movie still
High school seniors start randomly exploding, and Katherine Langford and Charlie Plummer try to fall in love before it happens to them. It is gory, funny, and surprisingly tender, and it gets more out of its absurd premise than it has any right to.▶︎ Watch on Paramount+

Critics and Audience scores from Rotten Tomatoes; ratings from IMDb. Scores as of November 2026.
