89%Critics76%Audience7.2IMDb

The Substance (2024) movie still
A fired aerobics star injects a black-market serum that spawns a younger self, and the two have to split every week between them. Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley are phenomenal, and their fearless performances are the film’s highlight.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

HEREDITARY (2018)

90%Critics72%Audience7.3IMDb

Hereditary (2018) movie still
The death of a controlling matriarch sparks the implosion of a family unit in this horrifying study of grief amidst supernatural angst. Toni Collette was robbed. Heads should roll. Ari Aster’s debut is a grief-soaked nightmare, and Toni Collette’s ferocious performance is one of the great horror turns of all time.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

92%Critics70%Audience7.0IMDb

Barbarian (2022) movie still
A woman arrives at a double-booked Detroit rental at night, and the man already inside offers her the only bedroom with a lock and opens the wine in front of her to prove nothing’s in it. Part Don’t Breathe, part Wrong Turn, and it rules.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

HOKUM (2026)

90%Critics82%Audience6.6IMDb

Hokum (2026) movie still
Damian McCarthy returns to Irish folk horror, recruiting Adam Scott for his first proper venture into the genre to tell a witches-and-ghosts tale that’s rich with atmosphere, if short on novelty (ironic for a horror movie about an author).▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

TOGETHER (2025)

89%Critics75%Audience6.7IMDb

Together (2025) movie still
A twisted, tactile meditation on love, compromise, and the bodily cost of staying too close for too long, brought to life by Michael Shanks’ sharp direction and a pair of knockout performances from Alison Brie and Dave Franco. Together, they make the film’s grotesque intimacy feel oddly, disturbingly relatable.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

THE MENU (2022)

88%Critics76%Audience7.1IMDb

The Menu (2022) movie still
A riotous dark satire that uses the upper echelon of the food world to skewer class warfare, with Ralph Fiennes delivering an icy tour-de-force as a mesmerizing, disturbed chef at the end of his rope. Full of twists and full-bellied laughs, consider it a dish that should be consumed immediately.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

PREY (2022)

94%Critics74%Audience4.4IMDb

Prey (2022) movie still

94%Critics76%Audience6.5IMDb

X (2022) movie still
Ti West sends a crew of amateur adult filmmakers to an elderly couple’s farm in 1979 Texas, where their hosts turn out to have very different appetites. Mia Goth pulls double duty in a grimy, gorgeous tribute to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre that has its own morbid things to say about aging, desire, and being left behind.▶︎ Watch on Hulu

COMPANION (2025)

93%Critics88%Audience6.9IMDb

Companion (2025) movie still
A weekend at a lake house where one guest turns out to be a rented robot girlfriend with an adjustable personality setting. Always thought the fembot movie would be hornier.▶︎ Watch on Hulu

THE UGLY STEPSISTER (2025)

96%Critics85%Audience7.0IMDb

The Ugly Stepsister (2025) movie still
A confident, stomach-churning debut that cements Emilie Blichfeldt as a thrilling new voice in horror. Fairytale whimsy and grotesque body horror collide in a nightmarish fable about the violence of beauty standards, anchored by a breakout performance from Lea Myren.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

ALIEN: ROMULUS (2024)

80%Critics85%Audience7.1IMDb

Alien: Romulus (2024) movie still
Colony kids board a derelict station to steal cryo-pods and find the facehugger breeding program still running. The best Alien since Cameron’s Aliens, back to horror roots and practical effects, though one legacy character is resurrected with VFX sorcery that’s truly hard to take.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review · Every Alien Movie, Ranked

LONGLEGS (2024)

85%Critics61%Audience6.5IMDb

Longlegs (2024) movie still
Oz Perkins delivers another sinister vision of the occult in taut, skin-crawling Longlegs. Maika Monroe is excellent as a nervy, kinda-clairvoyant FBI agent, while Nicolas Cage creeps as the eponymous killer but is not always an additive force. While never outright terrifying, this deliberately-paced supernatural horror film is dripping with atmosphere and tension.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

Fresh (2022) movie still
A dating-app match sweeps a woman off to a weekend house, then reveals he sells human meat to wealthy clients and she is inventory. FRIGHT NIGHT (2011)

72%Critics59%Audience6.4IMDb

Fright Night (2011) movie still
A sexy vampire next door (Colin Farrell in rare cheeseball form) wants to take a bite out of the suspicious neighbor in this tongue-in-cheek remake of the 1985 cult classic. Colin Farrell is a blast as the predatory vampire next door, and David Tennant steals scenes as a Vegas magician turned reluctant expert.▶︎ Watch on Hulu

NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU (2023)

82%Critics56%Audience6.2IMDb

No One Will Save You (2023) movie still
Kaitlyn Dever lives alone in a too-quiet house when aliens come calling, and there is almost no dialogue in the entire movie. Brian Duffield turns that gimmick into a lean, inventive home-invasion thriller carried by Dever’s terrific physical performance.▶︎ Watch on Hulu

THE MONKEY (2025)

77%Critics55%Audience5.9IMDb

The Monkey (2025) movie still
A wind-up toy monkey kills someone at random every time its drum gets struck, which Oz Perkins plays entirely for grisly slapstick. Not Longlegs eerie, but a full-tilt grindhouse descent with its own deranged drum.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

RUN (2020)

88%Critics73%Audience6.7IMDb

Run (2020) movie still
A teenager who uses a wheelchair starts to suspect her devoted mother is keeping her sick on purpose. Sarah Paulson is terrifying as the mom from hell, and Aneesh Chaganty keeps the twists coming at a clip that never lets up.▶︎ Watch on Hulu

ODDITY (2024)

96%Critics85%Audience6.7IMDb

Oddity (2024) movie still
A blind antique dealer moves a life-size wooden man into her dead twin’s house and waits. Doles out breadcrumbs at a healthy pace, and McCarthy’s sinister streak will delight anyone craving a scare. Damian Mc Carthy’s Irish chiller is built on precise, patient scares, and its wooden mannequin is one of the creepiest horror props around.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

DANGEROUS ANIMALS (2025)

87%Critics74%Audience6.4IMDb

Dangerous Animals (2025) movie still
A serial killer runs a shark cage tour and feeds his victims over the side, until he takes a surfer who fights. 40 ACRES (2025)

89%Critics94%Audience6.4IMDb

40 Acres (2025) movie still
In a famine-wrecked near future, a Black Canadian farming family led by Danielle Deadwyler defends its land from roving cannibals. R.T. Thorne’s debut is lean, mean survival horror with a matriarch you would not want to cross, and Deadwyler makes every hard choice land.▶︎ Watch on Hulu

SEND HELP (2026)

92%Critics86%Audience6.7IMDb

Send Help (2026) movie still
A woman and the boss who made her life hell wash up on a desert island, where she is the only one with survival skills. Raimi is mostly back. O’Brien is a convincingly smug douche and McAdams is electrifying as the capable one.▶︎ Watch on Hulu · Read the full review

THE POPE’S EXORCIST (2023)

50%Critics80%Audience6.1IMDb

The Pope's Exorcist (2023) movie still
Russell Crowe rides a Vespa through Spain as Father Amorth, taking on a pig-demon squatting inside an abandoned abbey. Much better once it stops being a possession movie and becomes straight up Indiana Jones. Russell Crowe has a blast as a scooter-riding Vatican exorcist in a gleefully over-the-top possession movie.▶︎ Watch on Hulu

FALSE POSITIVE (2021)

46%Critics20%Audience4.6IMDb

False Positive (2021) movie still
A fertility clinic gives a woman the pregnancy she wanted and a doctor who keeps telling her she’s imagining things. Juicy performances (Glazer! Theroux! Brosnan!) and half-baked thoughts on patriarchy versus mommy brain. Half a star for that lasting final image.▶︎ Watch on Hulu
