More THE WOLVERINE Footage from CinemaCon

http://static2.businessinsider.com/image/51f67cd069bedded60000009/the-wolverine-slashes-past-the-competition--heres-your-box-office-roundup.jpg
I remember when Darren Aronofsky was attached to direct his own take on Wolverine and I was super-duper pumped about it but now it seems like The Wolverine is just struggling to make itself known in a crowded summer of high profile blockbusters. Without a visionary talent like Aronofsky, the bad taste left in people’s mouths from X-Men Origins: Wolverine paired with an over-saturated superhero market make a film like The Wolverine easy to be side-lined.

I’ve yet to make any judgements as I’ve only seen the first trailer (no need to spoil any more details) but I like the direction of a superhero stripped of his powers, although that had technically been done before in Spiderman 2. As far as I can tell, The Wolverine looks a lot more stripped down and atmospheric than that not-so-great Origins film.

Take a look at this new trailer coming to you straight from CinemaCon.

The Wolverine stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Svetlana Khodchenkova as Viper, Rila Fukushima as Yukio and Tao Okamoto as Mariko and opens on July 26.

Transformers Battle Godzillas in New Trailer for PACIFIC RIM

http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/i/2013/07/08/Pacific-Rim-Monster.jpg
Last month, Guillermo del Toro unveiled an alternative Pacific Rim trailer packed full of new footage to a excited throng of WonderCon attendees and they loved it. While the new trailer was originally intended only for those at the popular convention, adamant del Toro have seemed to wiggle it loose from him. Have a look below and tell me if this is something that you’re interested in, aren’t sold by or will wait on reviews before you go see it.

As Del Toro wrote in a note accompanying the trailer: “Enjoy, my friends!”

Pacific Rim is directed by Guillermo del Toro andstars Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Idris Elba (Prometheus) and Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia). It opens on July 12, 2013.

Trailer for Michel Gondry's MOOD INDIGO Amps Up The Whimsy

http://static.leonardo.it/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2013/09/MoodIndigo.jpg
Michel Gondry
is definitely a hit or miss talent (he’s directed such masterpieces as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind amongst duds like The Green Hornet) but his latest film, Mood Indigo (L’Écume des jours), which is set in his home tongue of French, looks like a win to me. The vehemently indie flair that defined Eternal Sunshine is on full display here alongside nutty camerawork and bizarre visual panache.

As a return to form for Gondry, Mood Indigo seems to have all of his eccentric earmarks as well as a fantastic cast, including Audrey Tatou, Romain Duris, and Omar Sy – a formula which will hopefully make this a visual and emotional spectacle.

The trailer is as out there and whimsy as they come but I highly suggest watching it to get your interest piqued in a film that you otherwise probably wouldn’t pay much interest to.

Mood Indigo, starring Audrey Tatou, Romain Duris and Omar Sy, is Michel Gondry‘s latest film and does not yet have a scheduled release date for the U.S.

Another Trailer for Sofia Coppola's THE BLING RING

http://www.theyoungfolks.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/the-bling-ring-review.png
For those of us who always have wanted to see Hermoine’s bad side unleased, Sofia Coppola‘s The Bling Ring will be sure a strike a chord. Emma Watson stars in this based-on-a-true story of a group of teenagers who shoplift from stores and burglarize the homes of rich celebrities.

Based on a piece in Vanity Fair, “The Suspects Wore Louboutins” by Nancy Jo Sales, this will only be Coppola’s fifth feature film following other such vibrant independent features as The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation and Somewhere. Coppola’s films have a penchant for probing celebrity and usually are pretty glum and self-reflective so I expect on top of the highs of the thrill, we can expect the film to embody similar themes. Have a look at the trailer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4LzhgExvrc

The Bling Ring stars Emma Watson, Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Julien, Taissa Farmiga, Leslie Mann, Gavin Rossdale, and Paris Hilton (an actual victim of the real-life Bling Ring) and will hit theaters on June 12.

UK Trailer for Joss Whedon's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

http://www.bamfas.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/306132_272188099580367_1334642691_n.jpg
Based on one of the greater works of the Bard, Much Ado About Nothing has had no shortage of theatrical adaptations with Joss Whedon‘s take serving as the fourth (or fifth if you consider the Hindi adaptation, Dil Chahta Hai). Although they hardly ever demolish at the box office, Shakespearean work is often recycled in cinema every decade or two and often by unexpected and interesting talent. If you’re trying to place Whedon’s name, you’ll sure to be familiar with his last project: The Avengers.

Coming off the Marvel megalith, Whedon opted to crank out with black-and-white passion project in a mere 12 days with many of his regular collaborators hoping aboard. This premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year but won’t find it’s way into regular distribution until later this summer.

I will actually be catching a screening of Much Ado About Nothing tomorrow at the Press Launch for the Seattle International Film Festival so there’s no way I’ll be watching this trailer just yet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYmUOJisiuk

The film stars Nathan Fillion, Clark Gregg, Reed Diamond, Fran Kranz, Sean Maher, Spencer Treat Clark, Riki Lindhome and Ashley Johnson and hits theaters June 7, 2013.

"I Know Kung Fu" – First Trailer for Keanu Reeve's Directed MAN OF TAI CHI

http://www.impawards.com/2013/posters/man_of_tai_chi_ver2_xxlg.jpg
In order to continue with this article, please watch this 15 second clip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vMO3XmNXe4

Thank you and you’re welcome.

After learning Kung Fu in The Matrix, Keanu Reeves has directed his very own Kung Fu movie starring a mostly Chinese cast entitled Man of Tai Chi. This is Reeve’s first directorial effort but he seems greatly aided by choreographer Woo-ping Yuen of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Matrix trilogy and the two Kill Bills.

Talking about the film, Reeves said:

“It’s an English-Chinese Kung Fu movie and it’s basically about a young man who gets involved in underground fighting to save his temple and whether or not he loses his soul.”

I simply cannot imagine this being anything but a steaming pile of you know what with lots of spinning, kicking, wire-work and punching but feel free to check out the trailer for yourself.

I definitely feel like we’ve gotten very little respite from the sequel-mania dominating movie news of late but what can you expect at this time of year right before blockbuster super-season. This latest bit of massive studio film news comes as an alternative trailer for The Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman out of Japan courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox. If you’re keen to have a little more of the story revealed and catch some more bites of the action sequences, take a look at it.

Amazon Instant Video At Once Makes Themselves Irrevelant and Defiles Greatness of ZOMBIELAND with Spin-Off Show

http://images.entertainment.ie/images_content/rectangle/620x372/ZombielandTVShow.jpg
Unless the marketing team for Amazon Instant Video is run by a troop of eunuch monkeys incapable of making a half-way decent trailer, Zombieland: The Series just signed, sealed and delivered itself straight to the reject pile. The fifty second clip is somehow offensive, off-putting and sad. It’s everything that makes for bad television at worst, and a dirty imitation at best.

2009’s Zombieland thrived on goofy laughs and gory goodness with a fantastic cast to back it all up. While plans for a sequel were considered, they were scraped in favor of an ongoing television series. Without the stars of the original Zombieland movie, much of the punchy fun seems lost in this trailer.  Kirk Ward will take Woody Harrelson’s place as “Tallahassee”; Tyler Ross will take on Jesse Eisenberg’s character, “Columbus”; Maiara Walsh grabs the reins for Emma Stone‘s “Wichita” and the adorably-ass-kicking “Little Rock” originally played by Abigail Breslin passes onto Izabela Vidovic. This completely unknown cast of name hardly inspires confidence.

Take a look at the trailer below but be warned: it ain’t gonna be pretty.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdlBeKpsF7M

Much like Netflix Original Series thus-far success ploy to entice subscribers with original content, Amazon Instant Video is following suit but without any noticeable measure of value. In this day and age, television is often more ambitious than film and the bar is higher than ever in premium television.

What I just watched looks like a sagging plagiarized pile of garbage. I will humbly retract my statements if this show turns out to be the best thing this side of Breaking Badbut heed my words: trash like this will not stand for long outside of the protective grasp of network television and set against the sky-high standards of modern premium television. Amazon Instant Video should be embarrassed that this is what they’re bringing to the table and ought to head back to the drawing board if they want to have any real stake in the subscription-based original series games.

First R.I.P.D. Trailer Channels MEN IN BLACK

http://cdn2.sbnation.com/entry_photo_images/8058339/ripd_large_verge_medium_landscape.jpg
With the first trailer just debuting, this afterlife secret agency flick, R.I.P.D., which stands for Rest in Peace Division, sure seems to remind me a lot of Men in Black. Sure, Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith may have been replaced by Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds respectively, but with all the gadgetry, puns and aliens (or I guess they’re the undead?) this totally feel like a dark alley we’ve walked down before.

However inoffensive this trailer may be it but hardly sells me on the idea of actually attending the film in theaters. While the original Men in Black film was a light and commendable romp, the sequels bogged themselves down and the formula got old quickly. I just can’t see R.I.P.D. doing enough to distinguish itself as a fresh enough idea. Accordingly, this really doesn’t inspire much confidence for this filmgoer. Having said that, this trailer does seem to go after the Men in Black audience so I guess we’ll see exactly how close that tone of the film is to M.I.B. in the coming months.

I’ll try to hold off judgement for now because R.I.P.D., like Men in Black, is a comic book adaptation and so I assume it must have it’s fair share of differences… well, that’s actually not true at all. I mean, they both use abbreviations with an “I” in them!

Take a peek and see if you notice all the M.I.B. similarities too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X07xNrVd7DU

R.I.P.D. is directed byRobert Schwentke and stars Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds,Kevin Bacon, Mary Louise-Parker, Stephanie Szostak, Marissa Miller, and James Hong and opens July 19th.
